If you’re looking for a cultural stop that captures the essence of Northern Vietnam, right in the middle of vibrant Saigon, then Đậu Homemade is your ideal destination. More than just a restaurant, Đậu offers an authentic culinary tourism experience, where you can savor traditional Northern dishes and enjoy water puppet shows, a unique form of Vietnamese folk art.
At Đậu Homemade, each dish is crafted to bring the comforting and familiar flavors of traditional Northern cuisine. From bún đậu mắm tôm (vermicelli with tofu and fermented shrimp paste), nem rán Hà Nội (Hanoi-style spring rolls), clay pot spicy tofu, to steamed crab paste, every item is prepared using authentic recipes. Fresh, clean ingredients are prepared daily in Đậu’s kitchen to deliver that signature “homemade” taste.

Đậu Homemade not only impresses with its food but also brings culture to life through traditional water puppetry – a form of art that originated over 1,000 years ago, created by Northern Vietnamese farmers. Over time, this art has been preserved and elevated to become a unique cultural heritage of Vietnam.
Đậu Homemade is the only restaurant in Saigon that features live water puppet shows, performed on a scaled-down version of the traditional thủy đình (water stage), designed by Hoàng Hương Giang, the founder of Đậu Homemade. The puppeteers themselves are Đậu staff members who have trained to bring this tradition to life.

All shows at Đậu are free of charge and ticket-free. You can reserve a show for a group of 15 or more, or check the performance schedule on Đậu’s Fanpage.

At Đậu, you’re not just dining – you’re traveling through all your senses: taste, sound, sight, and touch. The restaurant is styled with traditional Vietnamese design: warm yellow walls, dark brown tiled roofs, and simple black wood furniture. Artistic touches come through in the decorative paintings and beautifully arranged water puppets. The spacious interior remains cozy and comfortable, offering air-conditioned comfort with a lively street view of Saigon.
Đậu Homemade can also accommodate large groups of over 30 guests, making it perfect for gatherings and special occasions.

Đậu Homemade is more than just a place for delicious food – it’s a home of Vietnamese cultural heritage. If you’re planning a special weekend, or want to introduce international friends to something truly unique, culinary tourism at Đậu Homemade is the perfect choice.
